Hero Labs' mission is to solve real-life problems with truly smart technology. We combine world-class academic research, award-winning IoT/smart home expertise and elegant design into intelligent, helpful products that enhance people's lives.

After a couple of years of research and development, Hero Labs has launched its first commercial product - Sonic, the smartest leak protection system ever created.

Sonic monitors the flow of water through a whole home or office and, using machine learning, checks it up to half a million times a day to detect problems like burst pipes, slow leaks or dripping taps. It's even smart enough to recognise individual appliances and provide a breakdown of how you use water at home, so you can save water, save money and save the planet, too.

Now, all we need is you: a brilliant, energetic, inspirational Business Development Manager, to help us bring Sonic to the world.

About you

You’re a top-notch Business Development Manager with a wealth of experience and a proven track record. You can sell a vampire on the idea of a summer holiday and can grow a business like Alan Titchmarsh can grow trees.

A data-driven, strategic thinker, you’ll be tenacious and go-getting. You’re the kind of person who loves the buzz of a start-up and can really get behind what we’re trying to achieve.

With exceptional business, financial, and commercial acumen, you'll identify new business opportunities, improve profitability and build up our network. You can present pitches with your eyes closed, and finalising partnership deals comes as naturally - and as essentially - as breathing.

We're a remote-first company, but you will need to spend some time in our vibrant South Bank London office (Waterloo) a couple of times a week.

You will:

  • Represent Hero Labs and uphold the company values
  • Communicate, negotiate and network
  • Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients
  • Plan and run sales campaigns
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world
  • Work closely with the Marketing/Creative team to develop the relevant collateral 
  • Generate reports and presentations
  • Work closely with key stakeholders
  • Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets

The person we hire will have a strong mix of the below:

  • At least 2 years' relevant experience
  • High attention to detail
  • Previous experience working in plumbing, smart tech, construction, building/facility management or similar sectors
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication
  • Ability to build positive working relationships
  • Excellent system skills; Microsoft Office and/or Google suite etc.
  • A proven track record of previously and successfully working as a Business Development Manager
  • High intellectual curiosity

Salary range: £70,000-£80,000 base, OTE £120,000. Potential to receive Salary Options in the company. Bring your A-game.
